All You Need Is Love?

Once that song gets into my head, it never wants to leave. The Beatles have never been one of my favorite groups. I’m not too sure why. Possibly because they were overplayed in my teen years. Iggy Pop one said a song only needs 25 words. He also said you have to recognize a song in the first couple bars or it’s not a #1 hit. I should count the number of individual words in this one, and I do recognize it very quickly. There’s not much in this song that I believe. We need a lot more than love; but, yes we do need love. We need God’s love for sure and to have that shown to us through others unconditionally.

This Fourth Week of Advent is a short one. Only 3 full days before Christmas. It’s fitting that the last candle for Advent is “love” which flows right into Christmas showing us that God’s love continues on and on forever. As I write, possibly I’ve gotten that wrong for a long, long time. Maybe love is all we do need because through love everything else flows through those who love us, to us,and then to others. An interesting thought. I’d appreciate your comments on this as I ponder it some more.
