It Won’t Be Long..

Do you ever, like me, get impatient? When things take too long, I tap my foot, my smile disappears, and all manner of words run through my thoughts that should never be expressed. They say patience is a virtue; and I say that it may be, but it’s not mine. Many say I’m very patient; however, they are not inside my head fortunately. Life is so short that it’s hard for me to be patient.

One of today’s devotions led me to find the hymn “How Shall They Hear the Word of God” which I’ve never heard. My YouTube search led me to it. Important words. Off to the side, though, were other songs, and I saw in the list the song by George Birge “It Won’t Be Long”. It was hard to finish the “How Shall They Hear” hymn as I believe in the words of Birge and the melody touches my soul deeply with those words. I’ve sent them, in the past, to all my kids. Tears come to my eyes when I hear it as I put it on constant replay as I’m doing now.

Through the years I hope I’ve encourage my kids to go for it - follow your heart and dreams, do what you enjoy doing each day for work (well mostly), and love life. At times, when they have had to struggle, I’ve wished I had told them to go after a high paying career no matter what, but that would have been a lie as that is not what’s in my heart.
