The Ninth Day of Christmas

Looking around it seems like it is Christmas past. Valentines flood the stores. Christmas carols ended just when I wanted to listen to them on the radio. Trees are lying by the curb to be picked up. Lately people cannot wait to put Christmas up the end of November and then cannot wait to put it away for another year on December 26.

How has this happened? Why has this happened? I think it has to do with marketing and the media. Businesses attempting to sell more. Make larger profits. The carols begin before Thanksgiving which gets short changed. I long for days when the 12 days of Christmas were celebrated starting on December 25. Love, family, laughter continued on into the New Year. Parties started during the 12 days. Family visited. Life was slower. I know I show my age and that is good.

Until Epiphany arrives on January 6, I will cling to Christmas, and today to the 9 ladies dancing. Are you ready ladies?

Dancing with Shannon in 2006!

It’s been awhile.
