Pursue Peace
This week’s Advent theme is Peace as we light the second candle. Now Hope and Peace are lit. When I was preparing my sermon, I asked Christ Lutheran’s Governance Board for their thoughts on peace. Brian wrote back some very honest thoughts that can help us all as we strive for peace. Brian said:
“Peace can be defined/assessed in many different ways. World peace...doubtful. Peace in the US... not impossible. Inner peace...yes!
Control over ourselves is the only avenue I think an individual has to influence peace in their lives and that of others through their actions/thoughts/determination. I try, emphasize try, to do more listening to others to understand their viewpoints with the goal of interacting in a way to promote a healthy interaction that may lead to peace between the two parties. Outside of that, I am not sure how I can contribute on a larger scale in an efficient way. Just a couple cents from me.”
Thank you, Brian, for responding in a truly genuine way. The peace of the Lord IS with us always. We just have to realize how to share it with others, and Brian gives us guidance as we interact with others. In Psalm 34: 14 we read: "Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it"
