The words “Be Still My Heart” immediately came to mind as I put my hand on my heart.

What a journey.  A journey with a great purpose.  To see all 4 of my grandchildren and especially meet my newest grandson Imran.  

In this week’s Gospel lesson (Luke 9: 28 - 36) Jesus took a journey.  

Often I put up fences and even walls around myself. I work hard not to, but sometimes it is necessary for preservation I think.

I have thought about that phrase a lot as I get to the end of the day and my elbow hurts and I pop the Advil into my mouth; as my soul hurts from distresses…

Adding things to my life is so much easier as it may be with you.

It sounds stiff like we have to obey these laws to the "T”. (Where did that expression come from?)

Imagine before 1882. In that year the first commercial power station, located on Pearl Street in lower Manhattan, went into operation providing light and power to customers in a one square mile area. This is when the electric age began.

My emotions surface during that moment, and I become overwhelmed with God’s presence.

I believe I fell in love with the “church” on Epiphany.

Children born this year 2011 will never know…

We “settle” a lot in life. It may not be the perfect car, job, house, or whatever but we know that realistically nothing is perfect so we make decisions on what we can deal with and what we need or want the most and then decide which one we can settle for. That’s not a bad thing.

There is also a sharp contrast in our emotions this Christmas among people. What emotions are you feeling? There are a lot of contrasting emotions.

Simple is best. The Bible even says so in Proverbs 13: 7 - “A pretentious, showy life is an empty life; a plain and simple life is a full life."

When you go into a restaurant do you prefer a table or a booth? I always ask for a table. At a table my feet always touch the floor. A problem for short people in some booths.

Labels are sticky. Labels cause problems. Labels cannot be removed easily if at all. Labels damage.

God is doing a new thing in me - like it or not. As those close to me know, when new things are presented to me and new things begin, I generally gripe about them and try to get away from them.

I watched The Great Food Truck Race about taco trucks. I couldn’t believe it!

Lately I am consumed by the pain and the hard times children have to go through.
