Beef Bouillon
Why can I not find the beef bouillon granules in the grocery store? I have been to four different stores. They have plenty of the chicken granules. They have the beef bouillon cubes with shiny red paper firmly affixed to them. But the shelf space where the beef bouillon granules are supposed to be displayed is always empty?
For years upon years, I used those little red cubes. They were not a favorite of mine. I would always try to find someone to pawn off the job of unwrapping them. The shiny foil is so tightly adhered. It actually hurts my fingers to remove that paper; but alas, it was the only way to get beef bouillon for my recipes. Until…………I discovered the granules. What a discovery. Life was so much better. And now they are gone! But why? Why would someone buy out all of little jars in this city? Or why would the companies not make enough? There are several different brands, but none are available. If you find out why, please let me know. If you live near me and find them on the shelf, let me know where. I may start hoarding them!
Looking for something and cannot find it? How many times has this happened? Oh, there are the bouillon granules, then there is often my phone, and at times my keys, and sadly at times that friend that I need. But at times friends are busy being productive, with family or working. All good things. Yet sometimes you just need a friend.
When my kids were babies, I’d rock them and sing James Taylor’s “You’ve Got A Friend.” I wanted them from birth to know that I would always be there for them. Always. We live far apart. I know that they are always there loving me and caring for me no matter what just as I am for them.
So despite the fact that beef granules may not be available to me, I firmly know and believe that both my friends and family always will be. May you have those you can rely on. May you know that you’ve got a friend in me and in God.
