Hope & Anticipation

Do you have a bucket list?  I find little hope in bucket lists.  What happens when you complete yours?  Then what?

You may have heard this from me before, but I much rather prefer Pastor Dick Borrud’s idea of making a list of 25 things to do before I die.  When you cross one thing off, you add another.  On the day you die, you still have 25 things on it.  That’s hope.  Always something to look forward to.

What would be on your list of 25?  I would love to hear.  A couple of mine are:  walk a labyrinth in each state, collect a Starbucks mug from each state, take a solo trip with each one of my adult children, become a #1 bestselling author, learn calligraphy and the list goes on.  Put a little hope, or a lot of hope, in your life by creating your list.  You may, of course, merge your bucket list into it if you have one, but just remember to add one every time you cross one off.

Hope to me is akin to anticipation and having something to look forward to in life.  When my next trip is not in the planning stages, when a holiday with family is not on the horizon, when I have not decided on the next labyrinth to walk, I get a bit depressed.  Hope is an important aspect of life.

One of my favorite Bible verses is Romans 15:13 – “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”  Let us overflow with hope so that others see it and overflow with hope, too.
